Drop Off Toys For Tots at Dante’s!

toys-for-tots

We’ve very excited and humbled to be a part of the Centre County Toys For Tots campaign this holiday season.  Dante’s collection boxes are located in the lobbies of Hi-Way Pizza, Z Bar and The Deli Restaurant, and Mario’s Italian Restaurant.

This season we are encouraging our customers and staff members to drop off an unwrapped toy and/or non perishable food item to our collection boxes.

The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.  The Nittany Leathernecks detachment of the U.S. Marine Corps coordinates the program in Centre County and all toys donated will go to a child in Centre County.

Centre County Toys For Tots also works hand and hand with the Centre County Food Pantries.  We encourage you to also drop of no perusable food items to our boxes.

Families across Centre County continue to struggle to meet their very basic needs, including food, transportation, medical, housing and heating assistance.  The funding for our local food pantries continues to decrease while the demand for food assistance continues to increase, shown especially in the frequency of visits by individuals and families to their local food pantries. The network of eight food pantries in Centre County served a total of 5,317 individuals in 2012. These numbers served 1,606 children, 2,863 adults and 848 elderly individuals.

The Centre County Office of Adult Services, along with human service agencies, the local food pantries throughout the county and the Toys for Tots Program requests your donations of food or gift cards to the food pantries during this upcoming holiday season.  Your contributions are greatly appreciated.  For donation ideas: paper products, coffee, condiments, spices, baking products, hygiene supplies, and detergents are all needed items that cannot be purchased with state funding.  We want to stock our shelves and donations during the holiday season help our residents throughout the year.  We really appreciate your generosity and concern for others in need. Thank you very much!
