George’s Sale!

George’s Sale: $7 Growler Fills
of Yuengling Porter now thru Wednesday

To celebrate America’s oldest President we’re tapping America’s oldest brewery!
It’s no secret that George Washington’s favorite style was porter.  In a letter from Mount Vernon, on 29 January 1789, he wrote to the Marquis de Lafayette:

“We have already been too long subject to British prejudices. I use no porter or cheese in my family, but such as is made in America; both these articles may now be purchased of an excellent quality.”

Otto’s Added To MTB @ Z Bar!

Bavarian Barbarian session cancelled :-(
now… OTTO’S MTB Session on 2/29!

We received bad news last week from our friend Mike who is Owner and Brewmaster of Bavarian Barbarian Brewery in Williamsport, PA.  Unfortunately the brewery had to close and as a result he had to cancel their MTB session on 2/29.  Mike is a great friend personally and professionally… we wish him the best.  He has some exciting offers on the table so I suspect this isn’t the last we’ll be drinking some brews that have Mike’s fingerprints on them.

You can read Mike’s farewell message at: http://www.bavarianbarbarian.com/

“Cenone” – Mario’s Traditional Christmas Eve Menu

Christmas in Italy is a two day feast;  Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  Cenone is the traditional Italian Christmas Eve feast.  While each region has its own tastes and ritual dishes, everyone eats fish on holiday eves to purify the body and get it ready for the big feasts that follow.  All over Italy, eel is the traditional centerpiece of the cenone, with other courses built around fish.

At Mario’s, we create our own special version of cenone.  Offerings include Traditional Christmas Eel, Pistachio Crusted Snapper and Sweet and Hot Calamari.  Homemade Lasagne Bolognese, or the succulent locally sourced Pork Rib Chop Saltimbocca will satisfy any non-seafood eater.  You can view our menu here.

Join us this Christmas Eve and let our family feed your family.  Buon Natale!

Elk Creek Prince’s Porter Release

We are very excited to invite you to a very especial tasting event. Our friends at Elk Creek are comin’ to town today and bringing a very special keg… Prince’s Porter! If you like barrel aged brews.. you’ll love this one!

Get here early… this one wouln’t last long! We’ll also have on several other tasty Elk Creek brews… so swing by, we’ll look forward to seeing you a little later today.

Check out Tim’s personal description of this tasty brew below…

Prince’s Porter: this is a version of our Poe Paddy that we aged in a bourbon barrel for 8 months. The barrel is from Heaven Hill Distillery in Kentucky. It named in recognition of Prince David Farrington. He was a major bootlegger who ran stills in this area throughout prohibition. Also a generous and colorful character by all accounts. I think the balance between the bourbon and porter is perfect. The bourbon doesn’t overwhelm but compliments. Nice vanilla and oak notes in the nose and on the tongue. This is built for hand pull dispense.
